i think Singapore is going through a phenomenal period marked with the current buoyant state of the economy, and everything appears rosy and everyone maintains a bullish view on the future ahead. i mean, when the good government announced its big red packet package to its dear citizens, which simply just translates to us receiving money from them, i'm certain the move was in the right direction of making everyone happy. Keep in mind that the intended amount set aside for this present is a mere fraction of the budget surplus last year as revealed accordingly. Whats more, recently the latest attraction - Singapore Flyer was launched, and the IR(pooh) should be ready by 2010. the new IONorchard will be completed soon too. New terminal 3 opened recently with the revolutionary A380 swinging into action as a world-first.
just today, there couldn't be any greater add-on to the already bright picture by winning the right to host the Youth Olympic Games 2010. I thought National Day came early this year coz we celebrated and cheered as a nation. So i can only forsee the future (starting tomorrow) to be even brighter than yesterday, as Singapore unfolds its mega plans to underline Singapore on the world map. Woe to those who, from this day onwards, still mistake Singapore as part of China. So up next will be a new National Stadium, a new Sports Hub beside NUS High, new this, newly renovated that :)
i think ever since the SARs crisis, everyday is better than the day before.
a few, say 5, of my colleagues, fellow sergeants, are gambling/betting freaks. i resolve, by our ORD, to influence them to quit gambling & betting. Its horrifying! the amount of money they're putting on the line. Almost every morning i wake up to discussions about their winnings or losses and talking about the odds and things related. Even on book-out days (like tonight), they're gathering at a friend's place for mahjong & poker, and this being the 2nd of such gatherings in a week, having done so just 4 days ago. i see how soccer betting has totally engulfed their lives. From Turkish league(can you believe my friend just won $5000 by placing a $50 bet on a fixture between 2 soccer teams unheard of here?) to English to Italian to Scottish leagues. FYI, the $5000 won isn't enough to cover $8000+ of losses yet.
I strongly oppose the opening of Casinos here.
