Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

today's impromptu JJ prayer mtg memory verse. No one was arranged to do sharing, then we kinda gathered good implications about what the P said last week. And my friend stated this verse, so that our tongues won't be wagging, after all, not all the P said were of rubbish material.

no longer dwelling directly on what the P said, she mentioned we must keep our conduct straight when we are with our non-Christian friends, even with other Christian mates.

She shared from her church's Sunday sermon. when her pastor mentioned about misusing God's name. Even though we may not say 'God' in our exclamations', it can be replaced by 'gosh', 'goodness'. 'oh my gosh', 'oh my goodness' instead of 'oh my God'.

Its the same, its intent to misuse God's name. Also, 4 letter words like 'shit', 'damn' should not be said.
can you imagine if a pastor goes up to deliver his sermon, then realises he forgot to bring his bible with him, then says 'shit, let me go get it', will you raise an eyebrow? double-standardness is involved here too.
