screams

Hi fellow brothers and sisters,
let me share this new experience with all of you.. hahaha....

ever since i stepped into JJC, i've heard the most number of screams i think i've ever heard in my entire life. after today's incident i really want you guys to know what type of culture shock i had to go through ever since the start of the year...

today: 1st 2 periods was economics tutorial lesson. ha, we did essay... when i finished doing and talking to my classmate who was siiting beside me and the teacher was telling us some information, i took notice in the back of my brain that there was a black thingy which was sticking onto my table( the part which was facing me, u know the thin part) ha...

after a while, i saw it... ha... it was a moderately big fat thick black creature with wings... ha... my first reaction was 'oh my....' then the classmate which i was talking to immediately freaked out and made funny sounds as he ran from his seat.. haha, that sparked off my fellow classmates into a total frenzy, (i think they knew what was coming by the reaction of that classmate who was by then a mile away from the table) the girls in the front row started making scared noises, but it very soon developed into full blast, high-pitched, throat contracting SCREAM!! ha.... (there were 2 rows, i was sitting at the corner of the back row) they havent even saw what was it yet and they started screaming like crazy!!! ha... a few seconds later, i used my leg to touch the creature and it flew..
by this time, the start of war. most of the girls in the front row had already fled from their seat, a few ran outside, the rest who stayed in class ran around the class, trying to avoid the creature which was set flying by me.
it was hilarious at this time i tell you, the teacher just stood helplessly there, laughing and watching in amusement as the class went choatic, i was laughing like crazy. the girls screamt everytime the creature come close to them. haha... it was so funny, the creature was like a flying poisonous needle to them... all their expressions were so funny... haha...
this lasted for about > a minute, the creature finally got chased out by one of the guys.
lesson was adjourned for like 5 minutes because of pure madness and total frenzy.

haha... 3 hours later, during project work, i suddenly opened the door which nearly hit 3 of my classmates who were coming into the class. After opening the door, i came face to face with 1 girl who screamed AT me, her scream drowned the other 2 girls' screams. they were quite frightened by that sudden opening of door.

later, after school, i went to my locker, my locker was situated in this narrow passage-way into a dead end. i saw my friend also there... we saw each other and was like smiling suspiciously at each other, i thought of playing with her by blocking her way out, haha, she punched my stomach but i didnt give way, i cornered her and she was screaming at the loudest she could and i let her off.. haha... it was quite funny...

phew, i defintely had one of my best days in JJC today, thank God, i havent had the chances to laugh that much in JJC, today we had skits in GP lesson which made me laugh. and laugh.

scream, screams, scream, a month back when an econs lecture was about to begin a girl screamed. haha...
ha... i guess i had to contend with more screams in the 1.5 years more in JJC.

on a more serious note, i've got SPA tomorrow pray for me ok, long day tomorrow, i dun think i'll have any chance for breaks. immediately after class to do project work, then at 1pm i'll leave to go down to EH for rockclimbing until 6pm, then to rush down to WOC for north area meeting until 930pm, ha... from west to east to north! haha... covering all parts of Singapore, anyone wants to go Hard Rock at night, then i'll cover southern/middle! haha... i'm quite worried about my meals, my mum is going to skin me if i dont eat lunch or dinner.

National Day is coming up next, any cool plans Philippians?!

His-story

Greet all Philippians :D

How have all of u people been, looking forward to the small group next week, so can hear from u people...
Hmm... let me recall the past few days... starting from erm... Friday...

Friday: Friday was slack, missed tennis inter house as i had to go for a 'learning journey' at Central Narcotics Bureau(CNB), quite refreshing for me as the presenter once again reminded us not to mess with drugs and the current drug situation in Singapore and a lot of other things, very enriching u know. ha... in addition they gave us Goodie bags and refreshments! After that i went with my friends to Plaza Singapura for dinner, then we walked to Orchard Road... i met my a few SJI friends there, friends from gym and also my classmates and also those who i happened to know of... throughout the night i felt really very sad, they are all studying in the same school, and i know many other friends who are also in that school... so i fell deep in thought and felt that i'm lonely in JJC-after 7 months spent there i still cant find a close friend who can associate well with me... i mourned that i could not get into the same JCs as the guys, i felt that i had lost them, my gym friend was one of my best friends in SJI, i missed those times, i miss the people who made up the culture which i so love, ... and so missing now in JJC. i miss the guys.

Saturday: missed James Trail on Friday night, so woke up early to travel down to our office in Geylang(EH) to attend the Saturday one. My dad fetched me there, mid-journey, we were involved in a minor accident in the PIE, the car in front braked suddenly, my dad managed to brake in time, but the car behind did not, he banged onto ours, i was so shocked and frightened, thank God none was injured, my dad sending car for repair tomorrow.

James TRAIL: was reminded again to watch my tongue, as the tongue is powerful and can cause severe damage( man can tame the fiercest creatures, but man cant tame what is within himself_ the tongue), so i learnt to watch what i say as it reflects my character and most importantly, my heart which God looks at. With the same tongue we praise God and curse -- this should not be.

After that went Presbyterian High school for the fair, hoping to make contacts or to share gospel, its quite hard to do so though as its quite noisy and hard to find the relevant links.

Church: message was clear, blessed are those who are being persecuted because of righeousness ya? rejoice in the Lord always, even when facing trials, its in His plan to help us grow. Then they sang my favourite song!!! Thank You Lord, i love it soo much as its so true and also reminded me of my last official day in SJI when we sang this hymn. Oh i also remembered i first heard of it when Hsiao Ling taught us in North Area retreat 3 years ago... After service i was guilty of being critical again, really guilty coz of what i learnt not to do in the morning i did it at night, tame my mouth.

then i walked, i love the weather yesterday, cold and misty, thank God for the weather!

at 10min to 12am, wanted to talk. When i reached home my parents told me that Sharm El Sheikh was bombed by terrorists, i was shocked, angry, horrified, extremely sad. i had just went there 7 months back and then it became a victim of the ruthless terrorists.( 3 years ago i went Bali, a couple of months later it was bombed) It disgusts me so much how terrorists see no value in peoples lives. i love the place, its one of the most beautiful places i've seen and been to, the people there are really hospitable and friendly, i recalled i had marvelled at God's creation there. Called a sister to talk to, had time of sharing, thank God for it.
i have to get used to the people that are with me now in JJC, thank God for exposing me to a different group of people.
thank God for reminding me that He is my great and best friend.

update

Greet all Philippians
thank God for the past week, the weather has been great, i love rainy days, although last night it was very cold, stepped out of church and was shivering. :D

went for Prayer Mtg last nite, had a relaxing and quiet time with God, we prayed for the missionaries and lots of stuff. Oh yah, i encourage all to go, i was the youngest last night.

i'm starting to buck up now, knowing that i'm not doing very well coz i've been slacking and dreaming too much. Monday has Maths and Chem test, i feel quite ashamed of myself, i love maths and i'm good at maths, but i couldnt be bothered to put more effort into studying Maths since the start of the year, that leaves me lagging behind the rest by a mile. so i chionged and struggled to understand maths on Sunday night, had juz enough time to revise all the theory, no practise. it didnt work out in the end, the test paper was easy but i flunged it. it'll be so ironic if the maths rep scores lowest in class.

Thank God for He really woke me up :D, i'm really working much harder now. haha.. i'll definitely bounce back in the weeks to come, i pray.

huEy: u better?

thoughts

Greetings everybody.
i've juz made reflections of myself since school reopened couple of weeks ago.
I'm getting increasingly lazy and the consequences are starting to unfold.
Please pray for me. It seems that the more i want to sit down and study, the more i wont do it!
i'm playing the game of 'catching-up', getting very forgetful also, very irresponsible. whats wrong with me?! is smth wrong with my brain.
Guess what, my 'block test' is next Monday(Chem & Maths & Chn Oral) and Tuesday(Econs) and i havent started studying.

London won the bid for 2012 Summer Olympics. Yay! i predicted it, yay because i predicted correctly, although i liked Madrid's bid better! Heartbreak for Paris, 3rd time failed. i like the Paris logo. very nice! dont u think the center looks like a heart?

its indeed fortunate to be in Singapore, during the past week i've seen disturbing photos and read provoking articles and heard reports regarding poverty in Africa. dont take things for granted k.

Waking up,
Alvin Chia

today

Greetings to all Philippi of the Philippians across God's creation!
(including Pluto where Shao Ning is from & Saturn where Yee Wah & WaiYin originated, the rest of the girls were picked up at erm... Black Hole? anyway still God's creation la ya, no matter their disturbing background)
Ha... silly.

anyway to personal-ly recount today, it was plainly quite enjoyable ya.
we met at Bukit Timah market to eat!! i love the food there, especially the fried carrot cake & char kway teow! other famous food there is the happy noodle stall & the satay beehoon. Thanks huEy for also treating us Fish Soup( yu tang)

Before i reached there, my parents dropped my brother at school, on our way there, we passed by PM Goh's house, quite scary though, my parents were like pointing to let me know that the house belongs to PM Goh, then my bro shouted/commanded 'DONT POINT', haha... the guards are so frightening.

after the meal, we went to Macdonalds at Beauty World to play Bohnanza! Beans was very fun, but i prefer playing with like fewer people (4) as the waiting time would be shorter. But nonetheless it was fun anyway. I left Beans a while to take over Shao Ning at the pool place.
not sure whether i stepped into the right place at 1st, not a very nice atmosphere, very sleazy and cold and dark, after Shao Ning left, completed her game with Ken & played another game with Ken. Surprisingly it was cheap, thought it was going to be very expensive. Then went back to join the rest to finish up Beans, found out that my gold coins tallyed with edna's gold coins number. Haha, for the long time i was absent, edna didnt manage to get more than 1 gold coin. haha, but i still ended up losing to her, 9 to 11. :D

after that, the rest left( Zhengwei, edna, Ken went pool -ing), i stayed at Mac with Hsiao Ling & Mingde, tried Hsiao Ling's motorbike helmet, it was so tight, almost cant get out of it, my ears went red. then watched her personalize her helmet with stickers.
then the Edna, Ken & Zhengwei came back to find me, walked back with them. took the bus and went home.

Shu Qin's dad passed away, its always sad when someone close pass away as we know we are permanently separated with him/her, (until mtg in heaven for Christians).. lets keep the family in prayer. Prayers for Pastor Ong's health too.

Have a fruitful week ahead,
Alvin Chia
