i'm absolutely irate that Eduardo was the victim of an unfortunate hideous monstrous attack by Taylor. it wouldn't be the same for Arsenal fans (i do not consider myself as one, although i feel myself swaying to their direction. for one, i think its befittingly tasteful that the manager's name is similar to that of his football team. its kinda like watching a dream team united by fate playing at their best, in their days of halcyon.), if say Sanderos is brutally attacked. but Eduardo!!! Totally exasperating that a brilliant youngster showing vast potential is stopped in his tracks. Grr. i'm pissed.

An absolutely miserable week for the Gunners, coming up short at all fronts. Extremely vulnerable.

talking about misery, my friend was like telling me that he's awaiting Les Miserables (pronounced as ley miserahbs) to hit the screens(er curtains) here. so he was telling me what its about and all, sounds exciting. anyway 7 NS guys in army uniform walking in to occupy the 1st row of a packed cinema watching P.S. I Love You. what you think of that?! i didn't plan to watch that show at all, because the show we wanna watch didn't coincide with our timings, so we just went with our only option left. in case you have not watched the show, i'll strongly advice you not to. Its cheap screen play by a director who i think is desperate to do his job, no wonder its rated worse than Alvin & the Chipmunks by LIFE! the latter getting 1.5 stars, but the former is given a miserable 1 star rating.

chris is leaving soon. i'll miss him.

i think Singapore is going through a phenomenal period marked with the current buoyant state of the economy, and everything appears rosy and everyone maintains a bullish view on the future ahead. i mean, when the good government announced its big red packet package to its dear citizens, which simply just translates to us receiving money from them, i'm certain the move was in the right direction of making everyone happy. Keep in mind that the intended amount set aside for this present is a mere fraction of the budget surplus last year as revealed accordingly. Whats more, recently the latest attraction - Singapore Flyer was launched, and the IR(pooh) should be ready by 2010. the new IONorchard will be completed soon too. New terminal 3 opened recently with the revolutionary A380 swinging into action as a world-first.

just today, there couldn't be any greater add-on to the already bright picture by winning the right to host the Youth Olympic Games 2010. I thought National Day came early this year coz we celebrated and cheered as a nation. So i can only forsee the future (starting tomorrow) to be even brighter than yesterday, as Singapore unfolds its mega plans to underline Singapore on the world map. Woe to those who, from this day onwards, still mistake Singapore as part of China. So up next will be a new National Stadium, a new Sports Hub beside NUS High, new this, newly renovated that :)

i think ever since the SARs crisis, everyday is better than the day before.

a few, say 5, of my colleagues, fellow sergeants, are gambling/betting freaks. i resolve, by our ORD, to influence them to quit gambling & betting. Its horrifying! the amount of money they're putting on the line. Almost every morning i wake up to discussions about their winnings or losses and talking about the odds and things related. Even on book-out days (like tonight), they're gathering at a friend's place for mahjong & poker, and this being the 2nd of such gatherings in a week, having done so just 4 days ago. i see how soccer betting has totally engulfed their lives. From Turkish league(can you believe my friend just won $5000 by placing a $50 bet on a fixture between 2 soccer teams unheard of here?) to English to Italian to Scottish leagues. FYI, the $5000 won isn't enough to cover $8000+ of losses yet.

I strongly oppose the opening of Casinos here.

going going gone.

so it turned out that i need not report back to Bedok today, but i'll have to do so instead on Friday night, and will stay over till Saturday for some drills. oh wells. thats Guards. Even the commandos are untouched for the course.

i'm craving for a movie that i've been longing for too long now. to this extent that frustration creeps in.
in order of how urgent i am to catch it, for some before its gone, again.
1.THE KITE RUNNER (the Cathay & Cineleisure)
2.Juno
3.Atonement
4.The Diving Bell & The Butterfly (GV Europa)
5.Away From Her (Picturehouse)
6.Persepolis

i was basically eating throughout today.

Had a good time at Chris & Ben's house, their yusheng rocks. Sigh, quite sad that Chris is leaving, and Edna, Johnson next in line too. Pray that they'll settle down in quick time there.

after that i went down Novena to get some aromatic concentrate for the olfactories - a gift from the Middle East, this time, Bahrain. I layed them out in front of a flushingly excited huEy :)

My friend called me this afternoon and asked me out for dinner. Thank God i've finally managed to meet him. I made the concession for Subway at BPP this time around. We were barely a quarter into our Subs & to my absolute jaw dropping surprise at the turn of my head, another friend who i'm dying to meet walked in and joined in the queue. He's one of the guys that were closest to me during BMT. So there, was uneasily funny actually. 2 guys in OCS who don't know each other but with both of whom i shared memories and experiences differently.

Next week i'm on course at Clementi Camp (my last of stints outside of Bedok Camp). Supposed to be a stay out course, but stingy Guards are calling us to report back to camp on Monday (bookout after that), Tuesday, Wednesday nights(stay-in).

haha... really enjoyed the manjong session last night. SuYing, ZhengWei, Jonathan and Me. haha... really a mixed bag.

CNY break is over. Havent really done much this break, the movies i'd wanted to catch i didn't watch them in the end, and it seems like the whole world is busy with visitations except probably a few guys in church. haha.. quite disappointing though, but there'll be better times to come, definitely.

Back to army.

CJ7 is like men in black. totally ridiculous. i guess the only good thing that i took out of it was the lesson that the dad kept on telling the son.

Ah Long Pte Ltd is greatly entertaining, Mark Lee & Fann's experiences in acting shone in their roles.

there's a hideous outbreak of theft in camp. too bad the higher authorities aren't doing anything quick enough, their reactions are so slow, measures taken are so ineffective. i guess more PSPs will be stolen.

for the 1st time on Chinese New Year, i'll be:
1.home alone
2.in Singapore

i don't really think i'm disappointed about not going back to Malaysia to celebrate CNY. Coz i'm looking to go to the movies. Flipping open the newspapers to the movie-screening page will send an immediate adrendaline rush and gush of excitement. so many many good shows out there - all those with multiple oscar & academy award nominations and winners.

clearly i was disappointed that i'd missed out on a few good shows earlier on.
Eastern Promises, Across the Universe, even Beauty World.

i hope also to spend some time catching up with some friends too.
